PUBLICATIONS AND REPORTS
Advisory Recommendation
The 2009 Advisory Recommendation reports the current compensation levels of state employees compared to other local and regional public and private sector employers. In addition to the compensation issues addressed in the advisory recommendation, the report also provides information on turnover trends for both state employees and those of other local and regional employers. The Department of Administration (ADOA) presents the Advisory Recommendation to the Governor and the Legislature to assist with establishing a strategic direction that will ensure the state’s competitiveness with other Arizona employers while also maintaining a competent, productive and satisfied workforce.
Workforce Report
The 2009 Workforce Report for Human Resources contains 34 tables with important information about the State's workforce. This year’s annual report has been expanded to include a variety of information about the state’s workforce.
- The report begins with an overview, describing some of the functions and services provided by the State Service Personnel System, and describing the other personnel systems beyond the jurisdiction of the ADOA Personnel System.
- General Employment Trends – this section of the report shows the number of employees in covered/uncovered status. Comparative information to the other states is also included.
- Equal Employment – a number of tables reveal different pictures of the demographic distribution within the state’s workforce.
- Employee Mobility – several tables show separation rates within the state, projections for future retirements, and estimates of the cost of turnover.
- Employment Characteristics – a variety of information about average wages, overtime and sick leave use, length of service and age distribution is presented.
2005 Annual Benefits Report
This report contains information about the health of the enrolled membership that has never been available before, including:
- Enrollment – shows comparative enrollment data from state employees, university employees, and retirees; enrollment in the health plans and networks, and enrollment by geographic region.
- Demographics – a number of illustrations shows male compared to female enrollment and family compared to single coverage. Charts illustrate the average age of enrolled members and average number of dependents per member by health plan.
- Claims and Costs – several tables illustrate financial expenditures and per capita expenses.
- Types of Service – a number of illustrations reveal the different types of service and key information about hospitalizations, emergency room visits, and physician visits, and the most common diagnoses.
We believe this report will provide valuable information to all Benefit Options health plan members and the State. Understanding this information will allow the State to effectively manage rising healthcare costs, while providing opportunities to improve the long term health of State employees, retirees, and their families.
