PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Human Resources Division strives to assist HR professionals throughout State Government in developing professionally and maintaining the expertise needed to provide efficient and effective HR services. Training sessions are provided on a variety of HR-related topics and open to all State HR professionals.

Certification as a HR professional is an option for State HR professionals to demonstrate their HR expertise. Certifications to consider include:

SPHR, PHR:
Administered through the Human Resource Certificate Institute, an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), applicants can apply and test for certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or a Professional in Human Resources (PHR). IPMA-CP:
Administering through the International Public Management Association, applicants can apply and test for certification as an International Public Management Association - Certified Professional (IPMA-CP). More information can be found at www.ipma-hr.org (more on this later)
